27 FEBRUARY 2025 :
the current state of my Nintendo DS and 3DS collection, in the order i got each game, as of february 2025 ~

pokémon y (2013) : first game i ever got. my dad bought it for me along side my nintendo 3ds, for my 14th birthday. at the time most people would get pokemon x because of the charizard mega evolution, but i didn't care about charizard, my favorite was blastoise. i also thought that pokemon y would match my 3ds better. one of the easiest pokémon games you'll ever play, tho' i do think it's fun when you don't take it too seriously. replayed in 2024 and was able to beat the game with only 3 pokémon on the team. don't think i'll ever play it again but i keep it out of sentimental value.
luigi's mansion - dark moon (2013) : this is my favoite game i have ever played on the 3ds. a lot of people hated on it when it first came out because of the mission system of the game, which defers from the original game on the gamecube. however, you gotta remember that this is made for a portable console, which is made to be played in short bursts. the mission system makes a lot of sense for it. i like the multiple locations, it gives variety. i'm after the 3ds port of the original game, but it's kinda expensive rn.
super mario 3d land (2011) : played it in less than a week. if you die enough, it will give you the gold tanuki suit that is invincible. super easy, but i enjoy 3d platformers.
fire emblem awakening (2013) : the first strategy rpg i ever played. i got it when i was around 15 years old and it didn't grip me at all. i actually, at the time, tried playing the game about 3 or 4 times, but i would get to the middle of the game and give up. but then, i tried playing again in at 23 y/o and loved the game. beat it in like 3 days. such an awesome game, i just think that when i first got it, it wasn't for me. i want to try and get the other fire emblems on the 3ds, since i liked this one so much.
fantasy life (2014) : i HATED the story, oh my god. it was just so boring, i was skipping through the dialogue the entire game. but i do enjoy going through the life missions. when i don't know what to play, i go and complete a few crafting or hunting missions on it. it's perfect if you are a completionist, but that's not my gameplay style. i have thought about selling it.
mario kart 7 (2011) : it's a nintendo 3ds classic. super fun. i'm one cup away from having 3 stars on all cc's.
mario & sonic at the olympic Games (2007) : my first ever ds game. it's ----- well, it's a game. i think i must have less than 10 hours on it, but i got it because it was so cheap, so it's alright. i like the shooting, the bow-and-arrow, and the table tennis minigames, all else is crap. it's cool that you can play as sonic, tho'.
pilotwings resort (2011) : another case of 'the original game was on a homeconsole, then when there was one on a portable console, they made it with a mission based gameplay, and everybody hated it'. it's fun if you got like 10 minutes do kill. i got all the locations on the mode where you just fly around the island and considered done.
mario vs. donkey kong: miniland-mayhem! (2010) : i got the japanese cartridge because it was around 1/3 of the price of the north american cartridge. you don't have to speak a word of japanese, since there's no dialogue. the instructions on how to play are all shown, as well, rather than written. it's a great puzzle game, had to crack my head a few times. my favorite part, tho', was the in-between worlds minigame, where the toys are falling and you have to manage ramps to get them on their boxes, while running against the clock, for the highest score. i would play a game of just that.
new super mario bros. 2 (2012) : my latest 3ds game and the one i'm playing rn. my first 2d platformer on the console! i'm just terrible at 2d platformers, it has to be said. i'm having fun, but i'm just crap at it. it's easy, however. it has the same mechanic as 3d land, where if you die enough times, it will give you the invincible powerup. i'll look into getting the first game, on the ds, later on, maybe.
super mario 64 ds (2004) : my oldest game and my first complete-in-box ds game! i'll play after finishing up new super mario bros. 2. i like 3d platformers a lot more than 2d ones, so i'm looking forward to it.
